1. Our privacy promise

MileAgent is built with privacy as a core principle. Your trip data, location history, and personal information stay on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your trip data to our servers.

This Privacy Policy explains what we do — and just as importantly, what we don't do — with your information when you use MileAgent.

2. What we collect

2.1 Data stored on your device (not sent to us)

  • Trip records (start/end location, distance, duration, timestamps)
  • Saved places (home, office, custom locations)
  • Trip classifications (business, personal, purpose)
  • Notes you add to trips
  • App settings and preferences

All of this data is stored locally in your iPhone's secure storage. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it (e.g., for a tax report).

2.2 Data we don't collect

  • Your name, email, or account information (no account required)
  • Your GPS coordinates or location history on our servers
  • Your trip details, addresses, or routes
  • Usage analytics tied to your identity
  • Your contacts, photos, or any other device data

3. Permissions we request

3.1 Location (Always)

MileAgent needs "Always" location access to automatically detect and log trips in the background. Without this permission, the app cannot track trips while your phone is locked or the app is closed.

What we do with location data: Process it on-device to calculate trip distance, duration, and route. Store the processed trip locally.

What we don't do: Send any location data to our servers. Share your location with third parties. Track you when you're not driving.

3.2 Motion & Fitness

MileAgent uses iOS motion sensors to detect when you start and stop driving automatically. This data is processed on-device and never leaves your phone.

3.3 Notifications

MileAgent sends local notifications to remind you to classify trips. Notifications are generated on your device — we don't send push notifications from our servers.

4. Third-party services

MileAgent uses Apple's MapKit to display your trip routes. MapKit queries are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not send your location data to any other third-party mapping service.

MileAgent does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

5. Data you export

When you export a trip report (PDF or CSV), MileAgent generates the file on your device and provides it to you via iOS's native share sheet. Where that file goes next — email, iCloud, a cloud drive, your accountant — is up to you. MileAgent does not store or track exported files.

6. Data deletion

Because all your data lives on your device, you can delete everything simply by deleting MileAgent from your iPhone. When you delete the app, all trip records, saved places, and settings are permanently removed.

You can also delete individual trips from within the app at any time.

7. In-app purchases

If you purchase a subscription through MileAgent, the transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles all payment information — MileAgent never sees your credit card or billing details. Subscription management, refunds, and payment questions are handled through your Apple ID.

8. Children's privacy

MileAgent is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy here and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
